Later that episode, Uta took advantage of Miyako’s feelings of neglect and fear to try to draw out her Fragment to return to Shino. In Episode 1, "The Undying Light," Miyako had returned home to hear her mother loudly proclaiming, "You truly are my best child" to her award-winning prodigy brother. Miyako’s off-screen decision not to use it to attack Uta because of its sentimental value makes the motif of the pot feel like a season-long setup to this unexpected punch line. “Well I figured using the nuka pot would’ve been a bad idea," Miyako replies. Momo’s nuka pot provides many melancholic scenes as Ruka stirs it, unsure if her Reflector senpai will ever wake up. “So why a frying pan, exactly?” Niina asks. The short but climactic battle is characteristic of the visually dynamic style of the series, each blade swipe leaving a dazzling ray of color. Meanwhile, Niina confronts her former comrade. This is a pot that Momo’s late grandmother gave to her as a gift, and that Reflector Ruka Hanari continued using when Momo was unconscious in hospital. The Reflectors realize that reuniting Shino and her Fragment is their only hope to stop her from draining humanity of its emotions.
